A Brief History

Ryobi is a Japanese company founded in 1943 with the Japanese name Ryobi Seisakusho Co., Ltd. A year later, it started to manufacture die-cast products and later offset printing presses. During its long history, the company has adopted a policy of continual innovation and in 1968 began manufacturing power tools. The innovative spirit is alive in its R&D department, dedicated to developing in-house technologies for electric vehicle components, 3D printing of casting dies and more.

Today, Ryobi has an ever-expanding product inventory to choose from, including drills, drivers, woodworking tools, nailers, staplers, compressors and inflators.

Ryobi tools are well-made and, in some cases, provide more years of service than high-end brands. Overall, users are very satisfied with their quality and that they offer good value for money.

Ryobi tools are not cheap, but neither are they at the upper end of the price bracket. They’re positioned somewhere in the middle. Sample prices: 2000W heat gun (dual temp) – $80; 18V One + 82MM planer – $179; 18V One + 216MM sliding mitre saw – $299.
